American Contractors Exam Services offers the training needed for an Nevada Inspector of Structures. We provide online Inspector of Structures classes and live classroom seminars in Nevada. These classes will help everyone from the experienced Nevada Inspector of Structures to the newly licensed Nevada Inspector of Structures. We are currently developing new Nevada Inspector of Structures continuing education. Make sure that you check back often for new courses. These courses will cover the following topics:

  • Plumbing Inspection - Topics that will be covered are Principles of Water Supply, DWV Materials, Underground Storage Issues, Tanks, Wells, Defect Identification, and Terminology.
  • Roofing Inspection - This course will review such topics as Characteristics of Roofing, Principles of Insulation, Low Slope Roof Flashings, Low Slope Roofing Systems, Drainage, and Principles of Roofing.
  • Electrical Inspection - This course will review such topics as Principals of Electricity, GFCI & AFCI: Wiring Methods, Branch Circuits and Devices, Overcurrent Protection Devices, Circuits, Service Panels, and Sub-Panels
  • HVAC Inspection - This course will review such topics as Hot Water Boiler Types, Forced Air Gas Fired Systems, Proper Installation, Ancillary Equipment, Oil Fired Systems, and Heat Exchangers
  • Report Writing - This Report Writing Course will include sections on technical knowledge, quality report writing, professionalism, avoiding the common mistakes, using the appropriate report writing terminology, and phraseology
  • HUD/FHA Inspections - This continuing education course provides current information on marketing, performing 203B inspections, the FHA Inspector Fee Panel, requirements for performing FHA 203K Inspections, and Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC) Inspections.

These are the current requirements for renewing your Nevada Inspector of Structures license. We will always provide the newest information available and will update the requirements as soon as there are changes.

  • To renew your Inspector of Structures License in the state of Nevada, you are required to complete 20 hours of continuing education every 2 years.

The following courses are not approved for continuing education; however, these courses are useful for nearly any trade in the construction industry. Courses are continually being developed so please check back.

Personal Protective Equipment (OHSA)

A one-hour course covers the necessity of personal protection in the construction industry. This course is ideal for both the employee and the employer as both are responsible for compliance. Topics reviewed during this class include: assessment of PPE needs, hardhats, gloves, goggles, hearing protection. At the conclusion of this session, the user will have an option to take a seventy five question practice test, used to prove competency in these topics. The exam is very beneficial to employers.
Fair Labor Standards Act

The purpose of this one-hour course is to provide an overview of the Fair Labor Standards Act. (FLSA) Deciding whether an employee is hired on a salary or hourly basis requires more thought than most employers know. The misconceptions and misunderstanding of this act have led to thousands of dollars being assessed to large and small businesses and sometimes lead to their financial downfall. This course should prevent this by providing enough information for the employer to make wise decisions.
Green Building

This 2-hour course introduces the student to green building concepts and practices implemented in building projects from initial site selection through design and construction, equipment selection and sizing, and waste management.
Basic Accounting

1 hour for $10.00 online!
This 1-hour course purpose is to introduce the attendee to the basic concepts of bookkeeping and accounting. While the terms are often used interchangeable, there is a distinct difference in the two terms. While book keeping is concerned with recording data in a certain manner, accounting is more concerned with presenting that data in a prescribed standardized way.
